The 2014 Cobra Jets can now be ordered as per the announcement from Ford Racing. We were hoping to see a turbocharged option for 2014 but it doesn’t seem like it is in the cards although a supercharged 5.0L Coyote engine is now in the fold as are a bunch of new colors. Ford will produce just 50 units again for 2013 as they have been since the Cobra Jets first reappeared in 2008, 40 years after their initial introduction to the world and triumph at the 1968 Winternationals.

For a whisker under $100,000 you too can own a factory drag machine that can jump right into the deep water of NHRA or IHRA stock eliminator and get busy with the best of them. The bonus of course is that if you keep the car for 20-30 years it’ll be worth exponentially more than other cars because of the limited production numbers of CJs in the world (only 250 counting this run of 50).

Since the 5.0L Coyote engine will now be the primary bullet in the new Cobra Jets, that means the 5.4L cars just went up in value. We love seeing these things run and as we have been saying for years, factory drag racing wars are nothing but awesome for dudes like us who love the sport. On the turbo option end, while it may not be offered complete and turn key, something tells us that there will be a recipe for building your own. Who knows? Time will tell!
