(Photos by Accelaquarter Raceway) – Back in August we first told you the great story of Accelaquarter Raceway’s rebirth under new owner Frank Sisk. The track had been languishing and declining in quality for several years before Sisk stepped in and bought the place then essentially commissioned a mega “do over” of the whole place, right down to replacing the walls, track surface, and pits. The facility opened late in the 2013 racing season after all the work was completed and by all accounts people were absolutely over the moon with the improvements and attitude of the ownership and staff. We were tipped off to some photos on the track’s Facebook page by our own Greg Rourke that indicate the strip is literally underwater at this moment due to a flash flood. While the racing season had ended, this isn’t exactly a great thing. Other tracks have had flooding like this in recent years with Bowling Green and Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY coming to mind first. The flooding at those facilities happened at a time of the year where the water freezing over wasn’t a risk. The local weather looks to be above freezing and dry for the next week in Harrisburg, Illinois where the track is located so hopefully that’ll help the water get gone.
Here’s to hoping that the water leaves the area quickly and does so with minimal damage/negative impact to the facility. Obviously there is going to be some serious cleanup work to be done, but hopefully it stops at that. With the track being closed for the year most all the vital systems for the place were closed down and packed away…hopefully in an elevated place. We’re going to keep you posted on the story but for now, here are the photos of Illinois’ newest drag boat facility.
Hang in there Accelaquarter staff and racers, we’re all pulling for you and your track!

Jet Ski Nationals… that’s gonna be a mess to clean up, hope it didn’t do any permanent damage.
“Drag Duck Boat Association” “Ice Drags” “Bass Boat Drags” Sounds good to me.
Holy smokes thats bad. Hope it doesn’t mess up all the new surface they’ve put down. They must have had like a bazzilion gallons of rain fall. Hope it works out for them.
