More Antique Car and Truck Wrecks From the Early 1950s

More Antique Car and Truck Wrecks From the Early 1950s

Recently we had a memory flashback to our childhood and remembered some crazy scrap books our grandfather had. These scrap books that we were thinking about were filled with newspaper clippings of car and truck wrecks, neat truck news stories, and generally cool gearhead stuff from the early 1950’s. We asked our grand dad, Warren Lohnes if he’d loan us the books so we could scan this greatness and share it with the world. He obliged, and here we are.

For this installment, we’ll show you some of the more tame stuff we found. Newspapers were far more liberal with the graphic nature of photos during the 1940’s and 1950’s so some of the stuff that we will be revealing in the coming weeks is a tad on the graphic side. They did not shy away from a car wreck with a person wedged inside the car who had expired.

Most of these photos came from the Boston, Massachusetts area where my family has resided for several generations. The vintage iron you’ll see is cool, unfortunately the vast majority of it is bent up badly. We’ll let the photos do the talking.
