More Antique Car and Truck Wrecks From the Early 1950s

We brought you an installment of cool photos showing car and truck wrecks from the early 1950s yesterday and it was a big hit, so we’re going to keep the party going. These photos are all from a set of scrap books our grandfather, Warren Lohnes, made when he was a younger man. We asked what drove him to keep all this stuff and his answer was awesome and simple, “I just loved everything about trucks back then so I saved everything I saw.” Boy do we love him for it!

In this installment we’ve got photos and an old, breathless news story about a runaway truck smashing into a seminary full of nuns! Luckily (and to our astonishment) no one was hurt. Some of these photos and stories are truly beyond belief!

These photos make me think of my 85 yr old grand dad. He started driving trucks in the late 40’s (and did so until he retired as an owner/operator) and has driven many a million miles. Trust me, he has seen it all. I love listening to his old truck driving stories!
