(By Greg Rourke) – Here we have an auction of a bunch of classic iron, about 130 in all. It was the collection of the late Bill Pinkley, his story would test anyone’s marriage.
It seems at some point Bill was electrocuted and nearly died. He survived, but lost both hands and both feet. So his wife took care of him, which isn’t really the trying part. She continued to help him amass this collection and drag it back to the hills of Blue Eye, Missouri where they lived. It’s literally on the state line of Arkansas. She helped him work on the cars and take care of them the best she could, but as you’ll see this was more than one person could handle.
Now Bill has passed away, and it’s time to liquidate. Most of these vehicles seem like extremely ambitious restorations. I’m guessing almost all will be parts cars, they were just stored outside in the elements. While we have many pedestrian 4 door sedans and a smattering of third gen Camaros, we do have a few more interesting rides.
There’s a 55 Chevy, and judging by the interior I’d say Huggy Bear wanted to build a Gasser. A 68, four speed big block Camaro is here. A 70’s Chevy stepside with what I think is an Olds motor. A few 66-67 Chevelles needing almost everything, but a few have the correct number of pedals. A few first gen F body GM cars with massive fender flares Bondo’d to the quarters. Something for everyone.
It goes without saying, but they all seem to be listed as not running. Still, Bill may have saved something from the crusher that you just cannot live without.
CAUTION: Maybe don’t look at this at work. It’ll take some time to appreciate all of this. And it ends on October 1.
There some cherries among the pits 😀
Looks like the resto parts business is about to see a big spike in orders. Not to mention POR-15
I wish it was closer, better chance of getting a classic at a decent price, running or not.
If anyone is wanting to bid on any of the vehicles listed in this auction. I am only 100 miles away from the auction site and have a car trailer and more than enough room to store a vehicle for a reasonable amount of time at my house in Joplin, MO. All I ask is that I be compensated a reasonable amount for my fuel and my time…..Just throwing this out there just in case someone is really interested in one of the cars.
“Not for sale! I’m gonna fix it up someday.”
Yeah, right.
