Australian Cops are Confiscating Cars at a Record Pace

Police in the city of Werribee in Australia have confiscated more than 60 cars in the last nine months due to driving violations. We’ve blogged before about the stringent road laws down under, and this story from Star News Group seems to validate everything we have read.

The most common offense that has led to cars being impounded is “improper use of a motor vehicle.” Twenty-four cars have been locked away due to that very broad sounding offense. Shockingly, only two have been nabbed for “speed trials”.

California has some of the toughest street racing and confiscation laws in the United States, but they seem to pale in comparison to the laws down under. We’d be paranoid to do burnouts and donuts down there!
