Bob Tullius is an American road racing legend. He competed in everything from the snappy little Dodge Darts he ran in the early days of Trans-Am to the infamous Grey Ghost LeMans and all kinds of stuff in between while leading up to this amazing IMSA GTP Jaguar. His “Group 44” Racing team is one of the truly iconic organizations to have been involved in American road racing.
Growing up in the 1980s, we’d normally catch these wild IMSA cars on American Sports Cavalcade or random other racing shows. They were about the neatest things going for a kid to see back then. Outrageously expensive to build, using technology and techniques that are still semi-advanced today, these cars were the kings of enclosed wheel road racing.
Powered by an Ed Pink (!) 12-cylinder Jaguar engine rated at 650hp and weighing in a 2050lbs and packing a 5-speed Hewland transmission, this thing is ready to fly at the vintage races.
Jaguar had not been officially into racing since the 1950s but when Tullius and his team were able to rip off a pile of wins in these cars, Jag stepped up to the plate and funded the team so that they could run LeMans, the ultimate endurance race.
We’d be willing to go into the car with partners. The asking price is $1,100,000. We’ve got the last three zeros covered. You in?
