Auto Trader Classics Find: The Bushwacker AA/FD

Old school AA/Fuel Dragsters tend to fall in one of a couple categories. There are the raw dragsters that feature little to no body work aside from a cowl, the bizarro cars that feature odd engines or layouts, and the drop dead gorgeous streamlined machines like this car.  Built in 1964 as the Tognotti Speed Shop dragster, it was an immediate sensation on the show circuit traveling under the name Goldfinger.

Don Tognotti was a famous hot rod builder of the era and he had a bunch of top shelf guys involved with this car. Pete Ogden built the chassis and Arnie Roberts hand made the body on this car. For us, this dragster qualifies as one of the most beautiful we have laid eyes on. The way the body works itself over the headers and then dramatically kicks up in front of the slicks is really stunning. The details on the nose and around the cockpit area are just icing on a really neat cake.

In 1965 the car was repainted as the Bushwacker continued on the show scene but also started racing. We have no idea about the level of success the car achieved, but frankly it is beyond relevant at this point. It went missing in the late 1960s and came back from the dead in 2006 when it was discovered in a Tulsa, Oklahoma barn.

It was brought back to the condition you see in these photos.

Buy it and go cackling!
