Auto Trader Classics Find: A Cool (but Pricey) 1974 Ford F250

Ford trucks of the 1970’s era are some of the coolest to come out of Detroit. Their brawny style and beefy drive line components make them some of our personal favorites. True, they were hurting in the horsepower department by the time the rube goldberg-esque emissions control equipment began to show up in the mid-1970s but they sure looked the part.

In our opinion there is no better wheel to put on these trucks than old school slot mags. They just look right, and in this truck’s case, their dull finish compliments paint that has lost its shine some time ago. We’re not knocking the faded paint thing, because again, these trucks are about character and this fella has it in spades.

The interior is totally sweet with the big shifter, like new appearing seat, dash, and door panels, and a floor that looks factory fresh.

The best part of this truck lies under the hood as the seller claims the truck is powered by a Ford 390 topped with 428 Cobra Jet heads and an Edelbrock intake/carb combo. Headers, Mickey Thompson valve covers and dual batteries round out the package.

The seller has owned the truck for a claimed 25 years. Knowing how good truck grow on us, this must be a tough decision to let the big red Ford go. We also believe that because it seems to be priced at a price point designed to prevent it from ever selling.

We’d be on board with $3,000, but $5,500? That’s rich for our blood. Bitchin’ truck though.
