Awesome Craigslist Ad Find: A Hilariously Accurate Sales Pitch for a 1988 Yugo

You’ve got to respect anyone who is selling something that’s clearly crap, and is totally honest about it. The seller of a 1988 Yugo in Southern California should consider a career in stand up comedy because he is truly hilarious. He maybe a genius as well, employing reverse psychology to his potential pool of buyers.

Packing a factory 52hp, yes we said 52hp, engine backed by an equally frail and fragile four speed manual transmission, the Yugo was the cheapest car sold in America during its infamous run. As is intimated in the Craigslist post, horrible quality control, bad engineering, and widespread disdain from both the motoring press and the buying public put the miserable little car out of the American market in 1992. Oh, there was also the impending EPA mandated recall of 126,000 Yugos for failure to meet emission standards. Then NATO blew up the factory in Yugoslavia. That, as they say, was that.

Hit the link below to read the hilarious ad. How good it is? It opens with, “I have for sale this pile of crap Yugo designed by a retarded engineer and assembled by a group of drunk workers.”

Pure comedy gold!

Thanks for the tip Eagle!
