Ever wanted to own a world rally car but didn’t have the cash? Got an old ATV you are tired of looking at? Got $10,000 you can loan us? Why? Because we want a Formula Cross Kart! We learned about these wicked little monsters from Kris Carlson of Auto Meter gauges who obviously suffers from the same gearhead sickness as the rest of us. The basic premise here is that the mechanical parts of your Yamaha YFZ450 or YFZ700 four wheeled ATV are bolted to the sweet tube chassis built by No Boundaries Karting of Huntington Beach, California. They also provide the bodies, which look like little WRC cars. We don’t know of an actual racing series for these yet, but having one out in the dunes, in the mud, on the trails, etc would be totally awesome.
The kit price is $9,950 and that gets you all the basics to get your kart up and running. There are all kinds of add-ons like dashboards, racing seats, a rear window, headlight brackets, etc. The completed vehicle weighs 640lbs, stands 42″ tall, 41″ wide, and is 109″ long. The truck/kart has 12″ of wheel travel on all four corners, and a 73″ wheelbase. If you have a YFZ 700 ATV, you’re looking at a vehicle that makes somewhere around 70hp. It should be super fun to blast around in! These are single seaters as you’d imagine. The bodies show up in white so you can add your own wrap, paint, etc. We’d probably spray bomb ours black and slather big BS logos on it because after we rolled it over (and we would roll it over) a nice paint job would be junk. Lastly, if you don’t want to build it yourself, you can pay No Boundaries $2,500 and they’ll do the conversion for you.
Being able to hammer on one of these babies would be too much fun. Hey, Christmas is coming. Maybe we can sell a kidney or something and score a kit.

10 grand for an instant race car, to run in a seriers that is probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on? I’m in!
Add some other quad platforms and it would really open up the series. That said a 700 would be a kick, it wouldn’t do real well with the low clearance and approach angle but a blast on fire roads.
