Back at SEMA, Gear Vendors President and CEO Rick Johnson did the impossible. He made us crave a Lenco transmission even more than before! With the engineering and release of a Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive for the venerable and bad ass Lenco, his company has single-handedly made the wild planetary unit a lot more sensible.
The Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive has proven itself in the toughest racing and competition environments the world has to throw at it. They work flawlessly when being engaged at the top end of the drag strip under full throttle conditions, have been the reason behind land speed records at Bonneville, and mastered the desert and rock strewn conditions of edurance off road racing.
There could be nothing better than yanking all the levers on your Lenco and then hitting the button to kick ‘er into overdrive. Johnson told us that he’d recommend simply using the piece as an OD unit and not a gear splitter between shifts. That being said, you still could, but the biggest benefit would be the additional gear on top of your existing “high” gear.
Lenco and Gear Vendors have history together that dates all the way back to the beginning of the company. Their addition to the lineup of a unit dedicated to the Lenco transmission completes a very neat loop in the high performance driveline world.
C’amon Santa, if you’re out there, have the elves fire up the foundry and the machine shop to make us up one of these babies! You could throw one on the sleigh and really haul some ass (although Larson would still be quicker).
