BangShift Exclusive: Liam Garritty Unveills “Saturday Forever” A Cartoon Tribute To Vintage Drag Racing

Anyone who’s hung out here at BangShift.com knows the name Liam Garritty, because Liam puts together some super cool galleries of photos for us every year at the March Meet and California Hot Rod Reunion. Liam doesn’t like to just take a photo and then post it, he’s one of those guys that likes to make the photo look old and retro and bad ass. His just finished book, which will be on site at the 2014 March Meet for you to purchase, is called “Saturday Forever” and is “A Cartoon Tribute to Vintage Drag Racing”.

These cars are not “real”, although they are based on real cars of the 1970’s and early 1980’s, but represent the extremes, what-ifs, and childhood exaggeration that is as much drag racing as the actual cars themselves.

Here is what Liam himself had to say about the book.

“These Drag Racing Cartoons are based on actual cars that dominated Dragstrips across the world in the 1970’s to early 1980’s. It pays homage to the most colorful and amazing Funny cars and Dragsters to ever roar down the quarter mile, but with a humorous twist added. If you are a fan of the 70’s, Zingers, Cartoons Magazine, Roach Designs, “Big” Dave Deal’s Wheels just to name a few, or if you’re just an absolute Nitro Addict, then this book is what you have been waiting for!

The book is full color, all cars are based on actual cars, the paint jobs are custom by Liam as are the names on the cars. You will be able to buy one at the 2014 March Meet, as they are going for printing and publishing now. We got a sneak peek of a few things already, so check them out below. You’ll dig it.
