This was the biggest poll we’ve ever had on the site and it was a dog fight right down to the end with both Great Lakes Dragaway and George Ray’s Wildcat Drag Strip receiving thousands of votes for the title of most historically significant operating drag strip. In the end it was Great Lakes Dragaway, the longest continuously operating strip in the country, taking the bragging rights as winner in this fight. The track has hosted every race known to mankind, some things that still aren’t know to mankind, and generations of people in the midwest have spent days, nights, and weekend at the track racing and spectating.
