BangShift Question Of The Day: Do You Have Any Cool Shop Art? (Otherwise known as neat stuff you won’t ditch but will never use)

BangShift Question Of The Day: Do You Have Any Cool Shop Art? (Otherwise known as neat stuff you won’t ditch but will never use)

This cool little Stromberg WW carb came off of the Studebaker I technically still own but have neither the means or resources to do anything with currently. The carb is super cool looking and while I will probably never, ever use it on a project or and engine I don’t ever see myself ditching it because I like looking at it and the thing is a conversation piece for anyone who has never seen a WW before. I call that type of stuff “shop art” especially when my wife tries to get me to throw it away.

Now, if I have a little carb sitting on the shelf or under my work bench that I don’t want to chuck, I KNOW you guys and girls out there have plenty of parts, pieces, panels, and general stuff that you’ll never press back into active duty on anything again but want to keep. I actually know a guy with a funny car body who has no intention of ever doing anything with it other than having it look neat sitting in the corner of his shop. I think I am OK with that. Sure, the funny car body is shop art to the extreme end of the scale, but we’re interested in hearing what neat stuff you have laying around to look at, play with, and impress your gearhead pals by owning.

(Oh and if you have never seen the coolness that is a Stromberg WW, scroll down for more photos!)

I rescued an Offenhauser 4bbl manifold for a Slant Six from the crusher. I have absolutely no use for it other than as garage art.

I have an old Casler Drag Slick from long ago, it sits in the hallway in a bag. Nothing but a conversation piece, still in good shape though.

I have one of those Burlap water bags from years ago that they hung on the radiator plus other assorted crap.

According to my friends and family, everything I own would fall in this category because it’s always in a state of repair and or out of order 😀

I bought a supercharger at a yard sale last year. I later found out it came off of a Detroit Diesel. It will never be used, I’ve been given a couple offers, but I can’t get rid of it. I keep telling my wife I’ll make it into a mailbox or something…
