We dig automotive furniture, artwork, etc., but when Scott from Route2Media sent us this picture of an almost completely intact Mini Cooper built into a desk we were blown away. Of course we had to do a Google search for Mini desks after that and found out there are a ton of them out there. And while we aren’t the biggest import guys around here, Minis do hold a certain spot in our hearts so there is a little bit of me that thinks “Ooooohhhhhh that looks like it was a nice car before someone cut it up”, but I’m not going to be that guy. Our question to you is this…”Is this the coolest automotive desk ever?” Or would you want to see one that was made from a Camaro, Mustang, Cuda, or what?
Tell us whether it’s the coolest ever, or if you have something you think would be far better to build one from.
I’ll be that guy.
It’s a terrible idea. Pointlessly cutting up a vintage car is stupid. And while the Mini wastes less space in an office than a “Yank Tank”, its hood (bonnet) isn’t a very good work top. And the usable work top looks darn crowded to anyone who doesn’t work in a “cube hive.” If it’s a functional desk, where are the drawers?
Nope, this is one gimmicky idea that shouldn’t catch on.
Oh, and the stoner dude called . . he wants his hippie-van shag carpet back . . . .
I doubt that anyone cut up a vintage Mini, not that they aren’t fairly common in the UK. British Motor Heritage sells everything from fenders to complete body shells for a variety of British cars.
