So after the story of the Maine state trooper stopping the Dukes of Hazzard replica police car yesterday, we thought it would be interesting to get your take on the coolest cop car or law enforcement vehicle from the annals of television and movies. This doesn’t have to be a traditional police whip, it can be any vehicle used to thwart bad guys and their nefarious intentions. There have been dozens, maybe hundreds of them from the days of the silent movies and Keystone Cops flying around in Model Ts to the campy computer graphic enhanced Viper from the aptly named television show, “Viper”.
Big sedans dominate the 1970s big and small screens. Films like Smokey and the Bandit, The Blues Brothers, and about a dozen others stacked up Catalinas, Monacos, and other portly more doors like cord wood in campy on-screen wrecks. There’s the cool Ventura that we have showed before with Roy Schneider at the wheel in The Seven-Ups, and as we mentioned in the Maine news story oddballs like the Ford Taurus police cars in RoboCop. You’ve got a long list to choose from…so give us your picks! Anyone want to lay money down on the Police Interceptor from Mad Max owning this deal?
BangShift Question Of The Day: What Is The Coolest Cop Or Law Enforcement Car/Truck From The TV Or Movies?
My favorite is the Firebird from the movie ‘McQ’.
Not many people remember that movie. I loved it!
Even with all the annoying wheel hop that TA had. 🙂
Car 54….. has to be the best Cop comedy show, too bad it only lasted 3 years. Gunther Toody still cracks me up-“ooo ooo Francis…”
The Bullitt Stang.
I thought we did this one already ?
Oh well … ” Nash Bridges ” Hemi Cuda … even if it wasn’t …. a Hemi that is 😉
I’m gonna change my mind on this . ” Inspector Linley’s ” [ UK cop show ] Chrysler engined Bristol 411 .
Cool … Class … and how many people actually even know what it is .. which makes it even cooler 😉

( for those who don’t know )
Blues Brothers of course!
67 Belvedere Patrol Car Adam-12 Season 1
Nash Bridges ’71 Hemi Cuda convertible, it isn’t only the car, but the story on how Nash got the car from his brother who passed away in Vietnam.
So many, The Coyote comes to mind as does the Faux Ferrari Daytona Spyder from Miami Vice…Oh, and Simons Dodge Power Wagon the Fall Guys Big brown GMC. or how about the Chevelle Earnist Borgnine stole to chase down the Duck. So many awesome cars…
Mad Max’s Black Interceptor is pretty tough to top – even though I grew up in the ’80s watching too much Knight Rider, KITT would come in second place.
yep, interceptor for the win…mind you, I’m biased since I drive a black 351 XB coupe!!

Well I’ll go along with it being Don Johnson’s car but, I will say the Ferrari Dayton Spider rebodied vette on Miami Vice.
I’ve always liked the panel truck from the first two seasons of “Iron Side”. (60’s tv series starring Raymond Burr).
I’ll go with Belker’s POS Nova from Hill Street Blues.
Highway Patrol – every car in the show.
Awesome!

The 1971 Dodge Polara in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
Nobody brought up the Torino from Starsky and Hutch, or the 66 4 door Impala from Baretta that ran like a rocket.
Bullitt, no contest.
