Yesterday Nutting put up our BangShift Question of the Day and asked you what your hot rodding resolutions were going to be for 2014. Well, today we’re asking one that is a little bit different. We want to know what modification do you most want to make to your hot rod this year. Do you finally want to add an NOS nitrous system to your Camaro? Or backhalf kit from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks? Or maybe it’s the year you want to put a new coast of paint on your junk.
We know that we have a list a mile long of stuff that we’ve dreamed of or are planning for projects this year. We also know that, like you, we are always thinking we’ll have more time and money than ever actually materializes. With that in mind, if you could only make one modification what would it be? Be specific. We don’t care that you want to do an engine swap. We want to hear that you want to put a blown big block in your Mustang. Or that you’ve got your eyes on a new whizzbang big inch LS engine from Lingenfelter. Whatever it is, let us know the particulars. Inquiring minds want to know.
So…What modification do you most want to make to your Hot Rod this year?
To get the four link in my wagon (I already have the kit).
So many things I would love to get done, but realistically? Get the power windows and the power convertible top sorted out so they work without the interrupted nature they do now.
And get the suspension sorted out a bit more!
Supercharger (ProCharger) with supporting mods … but likely a kitchen reno!
new heads and a cam and maybe a converter depending on the cam I select
did carb intake & headers last year
All for a gen 1 small block 350
The change I would like to make is my buns in the seat more. I haven’t gotten to enjoy my car(s) near enough the last 2 years.
But on a serious note I would like to start tackling an EFI conversion for my chevelle.
A Whipple Charger for the S197 V6 Mustang. Then add the T56 Magnum Trans from Modern Driveline.
Get the a new rear to replace the Suckass 7-1/4″ rear that’s in my 68 Dart
To finish the T56 swap in my 71 Nova.
I’ve got the modifications done. The only other one I need it to fire it up. I should be able to do that next week if I get the time. That’s in short supply right now.
I’d like to get started on my ’50 DeSoto, hopefully acquire and drop in (and get running) a V10 Dodge motor. We’ll see.
Add a hydraulic ram assist steering set up to my ’70 Suburban (and get it out of the shop!)
Don’t do it dude. They are notorious for leaks, and they have no feel. Do a 605 Power Steering box conversion.
Isky solid cam and new leaf springs.
Reach the end state on the 4200 inline 6 build – crank and SFI damper which is know available. Should make >900RWHP@ 18# – not bad for an domestic inline 6.
mines a bit weird…make my car run on this new kind of fuel called ` petrol’ Let me explain, its run LPG only for at least 12 years (never had a drop of petrol thru it since I’ve owned it and who knows how long before that… ) (Oh, LPG’s more or less propane in case you didn’t know..) Anyhoo, in Australia we produce pretty well all our own LPG – but the Saudi’s set our prices…yeh, figure that one out… but anyway the governments decided to phase in a fuel excise, they are adding 2.5c per litre per year capping it at 12.5 on top of the price by next year. LPG’s currently 97.5 c per litre – petrols 149.9 but LPG hasn’t got anywhere near the energy so you burn more of it – works out that if LPG’s a bit over half the cost of petrol theres no point using it so its not viable right now. So going back to petrol means cleaning out the tank ( done) re-doing all the rubber in the fuel lines (1/2 way done) and re-doing the engine bay lines, checking the fuel pump and a new Holley. Should, as a bonus, pick up I’d guess between 25 – 50 HP too! (This is on a 351c in a 73 Falcon coupe)
to get ALL the parts i already have, on , in and installed , oh and a cowl hood and “rpm” style intake w/new 750 would be nice too (79 camaro i would need the cowl ,lol)
Headers……..this is a big deal.
Finally have a shop to make a set of 2″ headers for
the 409 that will fit my ’55 Chevy.
End game is to have a pattern so these will be available
to anyone transplanting a W motor into a Tri 5 Chevy.
The one trick tube is the one right next to the steering box.
Keeping fingers crossed for good results.
Overdrive trans in my ’66 GTO to replace the ancient Muncie. I rebuilt the Muncie previously, but it sucks. The ratios are horrible. I want a modern close ratio 5 speed with overdrive. I refuse to cut the floor pan, so my options are limited.
The cost is keeping me from doing it right away. Other projects are eating up my cash recently.
