BangShift Question Of The Day: What Performance Or Styling Package Do You Want The Big Three To Offer?

BangShift Question Of The Day: What Performance Or Styling Package Do You Want The Big Three To Offer?

Yesterday Brian asked you what car model you would erase from automotive history if you could, which got me thinking. Instead of the negative, what about the positive? If you could bring back, OR CREATE, any performance or styling package on any modern muscle car, what would it be? Would you bring back the SS Camaros of the past with a 375 horse 396 under the vented hood? Or how about a new AAR Cuda? What about a Boss 429 Mustang? Or maybe you’ve got some ideas of what you think no manufacturer has offered but should have?

Well bring on the ideas big boys and girls! We want to hear about them.

So today’s BangShift Question of the Day is….What performance or styling package, from the past or never before offered, do you wish they had available on new muscle cars?

The 2004 Chevy Nomad concept that each and every Gearhead I know … even those who hated the General back then .. was drooling over when it was announced and displayed and which GM then in their infinite [ lack of ] wisdom then replaced with the ludicrous HHR .

Even better though …. go back to the original Harley Earl 1954 Nomad Concept … and base a new ‘ Nomad ‘ on the C7 ( or even the previous C6 ) Corvette platform . Hell …. much as I despise GM for all its recent ills even I’d have to buy one if they built it 😉

Mopar needs to step up their game a bit to offer a rival to the ZL1 and Shelby. And I’d suggest they go a slightly different route to fight off their Rootes-blown rivals: Create a Challenger GLH, armed with some technologies pioneered on the turbo Mopars of the ’80s – variable nozzle turbos, fiberglass composite wheels (although making them look like the Fiberide wheels on the Shelby Shadows might be a mistake), and try to get the weight down below a base model with some extra aluminum and fiberglass.

How about an affordable rear wheel drive v-8 powered performance car, that can outrun a $40,000 Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger for a third of the price

I would be stoked to see a total budget-minded (no A/C, power options, etc.) small block, 5-speed RWD come out! Think of all the kids that would die though…

    Revive the Berlinetta!

    OK no, don’t.

If Olds still existed, a Hurst Cutlass like thing based on the new Chevy SS would be amazing. But that is so many dreams on top of dreams its silly!

Cobalt with an LS, Fusion with a Coyote, and a Dart with a 6.1 hemi package, all of them all wheel drive with a stick.

I would love to see a new ‘Cuda version. However, not based on the 1970 AAR ‘Cuda, but rather the cooler 1971 version, complete with gills. Have seen multiple proposed version of a new ‘Cuda, and on almost all of them the front grill is modeled after the awesome ’71 grill, but the left out the coolest part — the gills. Give us a new fish with a full hemi package and gills!
