BangShift Question Of The Day: When You Think Roadster, Which One Of These Pops Into Your Head?

BangShift Question Of The Day: When You Think Roadster, Which One Of These Pops Into Your Head?

When you ask most guys what their dream Roadster would be, they tend to rattle off some early to mid 30’s Ford that does or does not have fenders, hood, Flatty, steelies, etc. It seems that everyone has that “special” mix of parts and pieces that makes up their perfect Roadster. And at last weekend’s L.A. Roadster show, you were sure to find any and all varieties. But which one does it for you the most? (CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL OUR L.A. ROADSTER SHOW PHOTOS)

Is it A. The “traditional” Flatty powered, fenderless, hoodless, steelie equipped, bare bones “Hot Rod” that started it all? Is it B. A red ’32 Highboy with no fenders, louvered hood sides, mag wheels, and big’n littles rake? Is it C. The classy full fendered ’29, with traditional red steelies, wide whites, a ’32 grille, and hammered rake? Or is it D. Something like the Hollywood Hot Rods “Respect Tradition” ’32 Ford with the artillery wheels, drilled axle, 392 Hemi, tons of fabricated parts, and a Duvall style windshield?

I know, I know, they are all bitchin cars that any of us would want in our garages. But when you first think Roadster, which one of these is most like the one that pops into your head? Or is there something completely different that pops into your head? Let us know. Here are a few for inspiration.

A.

B.

C.

D.

Like them all,but because of laws govern the roadways , I’d lean towards “C” because of the fenders and keeping Johnie law at bay. That and I’d drive the wheels off it, and fenderless looks cool until the rock chips start adding up.

got to agree, it has to have fenders. had one without and i would not do it again. needs to have a flathead and needs to be driveable in weather

F: None of the above. While I like looking at them, I’m not into prewar or sports cars.

Letter ‘ B ‘ by a long shot . The ‘ classic ‘ Deuce Hot Rod … hands down ! Stick a Duvall windshield on it and you’d have the ultimate Deuce . Fenders are for grandma’s … and ‘ D ‘ is a bit too OTT for my tastes 8)

I love “c” the full fendered A roadster, though I would ditch the deuce grill and put the original A one back on.

I like A & C…….Think id choose A. Ive never seen or heard of the cops messing with someone because they didn’t have fenders? Not sure where yall come up with that. I drive a 28′ Ford Model A Sedan nearly everyday. No fenders and Open headers and have NEVER had any trouble and I have driven it through several different states.

abc or d I like them all as long as they dont have chevy engine in it anybody who puts a chevy engine is a ford is cheap and should be shot on sight or have his car taken away by someone who appreciates fords !

None of those. I think of my 1963 MGB roadster that’s currently competing in the jackstand nationals in my garage.

full fendered and a working folding top for sure, much more practical for road trips

so, for ME its letter C
but everybody likes what they like, choice is nice!!

practical?! in a hot rod? you want pratical, go buy a Subaru station wagon. and since when were hot rodders afraid of cops? i’ll take D, with A coming in a close 2nd. if it doesn’t make it go faster, it goes in the scrap pile.

How is something not practical just because it doesn’t have fenders? I just drove my fenderless open header A model to Bowling green,KY and back without even thinking about it. Saying something is “not practical” is just saying im scared to drive it.
