Help! What The Hell Kind Of Car Is This Trar? Bonus Points For The Chassis!

My pal and remote BangShift operative Jay Spinella was minding his business over the weekend when he happened upon the awesome and totally unique trar pictured below. Unlike normal people who would have just shrugged and carried on, Spinella followed this thing like paparazzi on Bieber and blasted a photo before it got away.

The thing looks very well built from this distance, the paint is good, wheelbase perfectly fits the body, and there are a pair of exhaust tips visible below the rear bumper. There’s only one problem. We have no idea what the hell the body is. We also have no idea what 4×4 chassis would be small enough in length and width to match this little car to a T. That’s where you come in!

TELL US WHAT THE BODY OF THIS TRAR IS AND IF YOU ARE A REAL BS WIZARD, THE CHASSIS THE WHOLE THING IS ROLLING AROUND ON!

Late ’50’s English Ford. (Likely on a Jeep chassis-logical considering the wheelbase and track).
When I was a young pup back in the early ’70’s, a guy in the neighborhood had a day-glo orange 195x Anglia, done in gasser style, with a straight axle and a Chevy V8. It was really cool!

Definitely and Anglia. A guy races one in northern Wisconsin called “Uglia”, I just checked my archives. I’d agree with Jeep chassis.

About a ’60 Anglia. I think though, that those also carried the “Austin America” tag at one point. Either way, a kid at my high school had one of those. (I had a Morris Minor I drove when I wasn’t driving my ’64 Dodge max wedge to school!)

I wonder if they didn’t set it on the running gear of something like a Suzuki Samurai. Those Anglias were pretty compact cars.

It is a beautifully ugly little beast and I bet it turns heads everywhere it goes!

the hubs look like warn lockouts, so sami axles are out. Front shackles I’d say jeep. Ive always wondered why people do frame swaps to make these rigs, I’d just sling under the axles and add a T-case
