December 22nd is the date that officially marks winter…which only means that you are now officially freezing your tail off according to a calendar. Truth be told, the cold swing is in full effect, with snow already appearing and plenty more of it to come. While that keeps the warm-blooded types around here cringing and dreaming of desert sun and tropical beaches, those who are a little more temperate are breaking out the snowmobiles, preparing the ATVs, or simply making sure that the winter beater is more than ready for a little bit of parking lot hooning and snowdrift bashing. So, with the season finally on our doorstep, we ask you, readers, what you’re preparing for the winter season? Are the sleds ready with new belts on? Or are you barricading yourself inside of the shop with a heater on, building up something for spring? McTaggart is hoping his house stays warm, Lohnes is hoping that he doesn’t see snow mountains like he did last year, and Chad simply prepares for winter by pairing his flip flops and shorts with a hoodie…lucky Californian. Tell us what you’ve got going on below!
Winter fun?
In the unlikely event of snowfall in the North East of England the I will resort to my usual free winter pastime of downing a bottle of scotch and then trying to walk downhill on the icy sidewalk…
A demolition derby, ice racing and drifting combined and not a car in sight!
I doubt we’ll get any snow, but if so, my goal is 4-wheel full throttle drifts in a parking lot. And video evidence.
Well, the good news is, this winter is supposed to be ridiculously mild due to the aligning of El Nino and about three other meteorological phenomena. They said the last time this happened was ’82-’83 and that year Central New York didn’t receive any noteworthy snow until mid-February.
Honestly, I’m hoping for no snow. The sooner winter is over, the sooner I can get my Miata out and go racing. But if it does snow, I do have a ZJ Grand Cherokee, so I’m sure I can find a way to have some fun.
I actually enjoy blowing out the snow! A few beers afterwords, a nice heated room, and my wife shaking the snow off her!
I like to use the down time in winter to challenge my girlfriend to contests I know I can win. It starts with opening jars and usually ends in a drunkin “yellow snow” spelling contest.
December 22nd? It has been winter here two months already, and it hasn\’t been mild in the slightest. Already been double digits below zero (Fahrenheit) with plenty of snow. That means the mopar with slicks goes in the garage for hibernation, and the all wheel drive, turbocharged, snow tire fun begins.
