Question of the Day: Do You Know What The Hell This Thing Is?

Question of the Day: Do You Know What The Hell This Thing Is?

BS reader Brian Earp recently sent us an email with a photo of his truck and thought it would be fun to try to stump the rest of you out there in reader land as to what in the hell it is. He gave us the dirt, which we’re holding in our back pocket so you can all take a shot at guessing what this is. Once we’ve let you stew for a day or so, we’ll drop the knowledge on you. Here’s a hint: There are probably less than 10 of them in the world and apparently only 12 were ever made in the first place.

Here’s one photo for today and we’ll be following up with more photos and info in the days to come.

VW Bug+ Big Rig Kit = YUCK!

I remember seeing them around in the late 70’s, when bug kits were all the rage.

After looking at the shape of the windows, I’ve got to agree, it’s a VW based kit car.

    Whatever it is,kill it now.
From a historical standpoint, kill it now.
    Wish it to the cornfield.

I saw one of these back in the late 70’s when I was working at VW dealership in Salt Lake City. The guy came in the service area. I don’t remember if he was local or not. I think his was black and I don’t recall if it had the cap on the rear or not. it made quite a commotion in the shop, with about the same reaction as the comments already posted.

It’s another body conversion kit for VW Beetles. Like the 1940 Ford nose, the Rolls Royce nose, the Avenger GT40 look-a-like, etc..

don’t know what it is but I do know it’s already on the trailer on the way to the crushers!
