Thanks to the boys at Valley Head Service in Northridge, California, we’ve got a pile of new material on hand to challenge just how hardcore a gearhead you are. Yesterday we slapped you upside the head with one of the largest cylinder blocks that Detroit ever produced. Like the champs that you are, the answer was guessed pretty early on after the question was posted. That beautiful 16-cylinder hunk of iron was an early 1930s Cadillac V16. These 452ci engines produced about 200hp and a massive (for the time) 300 lb/ft of torque. It was delivered in a cruise liner level of smoothness due to the size and number of cylinders the engine used. Over the course of a decade long production run, very few Cadillac 16-cylinder cars were produced. Those that are still around fetch huge money at auction and are among the most collectible American cars of any vintage.
Today’s challenge only has half the number of cylinders and they’re all in a row. This should be hella easy…right? You tell us!
Look at the short block below and tell us what it is!
