Yesterday I threw a tough one out there in this string of parts identification blog items. Basically I gave you two photos of an interesting looking engine block and asked you to identify it. Well you didn’t let me down! There were a few close guesses and some good informed speculation, but I am awarding the free BangShift shirt to Hauen who came up with a definitive and correct answer with the Lincoln 279ci Y-Block engine. That little engine came out of a Ford firetruck that is being restored and will end up back in that truck. The little 279ci engine was a short lived package and can basically be found in 1954 medium duty and large trucks. Hauen, send your shirt size and address to [email protected]
As compared to yesterday’s challenge, this old decrepit block below is a relative softball. Spill the beans on what it is and what it would have been found in!
looks like a Model A ford
A Clemons SOHC from an old sprint car?
I’m with squirrel. It looks like a Ford model A.
BTW, keep these comin’. I spent quite a bit of time studying Y blocks yesterday. I really learned a lot!
1932 Plymouth 4
1930 ford Model A deluxe!!!
I’m thinking Continental. I’ve spent a bit of time messing with them in forklifts.
could be from a Roadster but looks like the 1930 40hp flathead!!
Looks like a Ford model A (or B block, the improved 4cyl for 32-34). These are great BTW! Thanks!
Model A Ford. I just walked by 6 of them today at work. We make new cams and other misc stuff for them.
