We all have that ONE THING that other people do on the road that drives us up a wall. It makes us look like the late Arnold Palmer, pictured above and below with his balled up fist. Maybe it is lack of turn signals, maybe it is cell phone use, maybe it is crappy merging techniques or abilities. Whatever it is, we want to hear it straight from you. What drives you nuts when you have to deal with it on the highways and by-ways. Since you are going to share your takes, I’ll share mine.
People that fail to merge when there’s like 2 miles of notice and then rocket their asses up the “open lane” to the point of no return are the worst. Literally the worst. When I was a truck driver, I had no problem sticking the backside the truck halfway into that lane to prevent any of that junk from happening. I know I likely annoyed people but I figured I was doing a public service. Since my days of truck driving are behind me (at least for now!) I’m in regular sized cars and I basically give no quarter. When some schmo tries to start to merge over after ripping down the open lane, I effectively play the world’s slowest game of chicken. As someone proceeding in my own lane and the asshat trying to force his way in, they get to pick whether they woah on up or drive into me at 2mph. I can’t say that I win every stand off but I know making that marooon sweat is more fun than just laying out the red carpet for him.
So that’s my story. I want to know yours!

Pulling out in front of me so I have to jam the brakes and then pulling off after a couple of blocks
Arnold golfing on the highway. :
I don’t hate anyone who drives, because I know that more than 80% of them become stupid the moment they get in their cars and they can’t help it, because they’re too stupid to figure it out.
I do shake my head a lot and shoot a lot of them with my finger, but I don’t become angry or hateful.
a. The drivers who stay in the left lane, even though everyone else is having to pass them in the right lane.
b. And the cops who won’t pull these people over and give them a ticket, even though they’re faced with the same problem and have to make a pass in the right lane. I’ve witnessed this 3x in the last 6 months.
You must have driven on the NY state thruway. I have to pass on the right all the time cause some idiot sets the cruise at 72 in left lane and everyone else is going near 80. There is signs at each bridge underpass saying “SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT” . It is law…Now I just stay in the right lane most of the time as there is less traffic there…
Yea, but think of the hundreds of billions of dollars we taxpayers wouldn’t get to give to construction companies to further widen highways so the next moron could sit out in the left lane to insure that traffic wouldn’t improve.. COME ON!
People in the left lane who decide at the last moment they want to turn right.
Most of those morons know well in advance that they have to exit the highway. There is no way in hell that they will be let off by me.
All of the above, basically idiots, I drive truck 1600 miles a week in Californias central valley, not enough room to describe the stupidity I see.
Gettin in the Left (Passing Lane) and turning BRAIN DEAD running 69 in a 70
Anyone driving on MY road. 😀
Actually, my most annoying set-up is the SECOND creeper intentionally forming a rolling block. You can even see the bastard looking over to check his parallel position repeatedly.
Tends to make me think in terms of caliber.
I’ve got two of them. First is two cars rolling alongside each other at the same speed making it impossible to pass. Second is people who take a mile to get up to speed after either merging or leaving a redlight. There’s a pedal for a reason!! Use it!!
Easy. Anyone driving with their headlights set to blind other drivers. Goes double for DRL’s, and triple for commercial stuff.
I realize that a schoolbus chassis probably starts with the lights aligned properly. Then a few tons of weight are added to the rear, and those lights are never again aimed properly, so “Lights on for safety of our children!” turns into “Blind every other f’king person on the road”.
Motorcyclists are often guilty of this as well, the whole idea of being more visible. But it’s dumb and wrong for the simple reason that there’s two kinds of drivers, and two states they can be in: Good drivers or bad drivers and they can be paying attention or not paying attention. If they’re not paying attention, then it does no good no matter what you’re doing. If they’re bad drivers but paying attention, your lights are going to cause target fixation and increase the odds of an accident. If they’re good drivers and paying attention, you’re just pissing them off.
Turn signals. WTF is wrong with people, suddenly their left arm are paralyzed! I try not to loose control of my emotion but sometimes it’s gets the best of me.
High beams. Are more people developing night blindness? I pass people on the road and still leave on the high beams. Sometimes they pass me and I turn them on and they get upset. Really?
Not using what on on/off ramps in intended for. Enters the freeway at 45, freaks out they can’t get in and then goes 80. Then slows to 45 on the freeway to get onto the off ramp to coast up to the light at 30. There is a reason on/off ramps are 1/4 mile long.
Other on is sitting in the passing lane at 60 miles an hour.
Leave their driveway
Ever notice that people who drive slower than you are idiots, and people who drive faster than you are maniacs?
George Carlin.
I hate what I call ” RED LIGHT CREEPERS ” You stop right behind them at a red light. Then they continually creep forward 1 foot at a time thinking that doing this will make the light change faster. When all is said and done there are 2 car lengths between you and them when the light finally turns green. Seems kind of petty but it bothers me…lol
Fast lane campers. Bonus rage goes to the ones that think it’s an affront when you swing out to go around them and speed up.
fast on straights brake lights on the corners f off and let me pass
Drivers that are such pussies that they leave a three car gap between them and the guy in front of them in traffic lines which just make them longer and slower to move.
Texting.
the most aggravating behavior i have seen is the driver constantly increasing and decreasing their speed on the interstate and two lane roads. especially two lane roads. i am talking 65mph to 30mph with out using brakes.and accelerating back to 65 in a constant continuous cycle. trying to save gas by coasting? try parking.
