We’re always happily surprised when we get a tip in our email box that shows of the craftiness and smarts of gearheads. As it turns out, Jack Reynolds of Upland, California is one of those guys and he builds some of the most incredible scale race car models we have ever seen at this workshop. Reynolds is a lot like us because you’ll see his interest range from ancient road racing cars from the dawn of racing itself to slingshot dragsters, Can Am cars, and sports cars as well. His website is awesome because it has an extensive and easy to navigate photo gallery that shows built photos and lots of pictures of completed models. You’ll see photos of him stringing the miniature wire wheels and some other in process stuff like how he makes the tires and everything. These models are scratch built from the ground up. There’s nothing “store bought” about the pieces and Jack takes a lot of pride in making them all himself.
The dude has awesome talent in sheet metal forming and fabrication because building these cars like he does it basically just a table top version of doing it in real life. It ain’t easy and it takes a lot of time to get right. Trust us when we tell you that all the cars you’ll see in his gallery are totally “right”. We can barely bend a decent 90-degree lip in a piece of metal and this dude is hand forming small versions of some of the most famous and beautiful race cars ever built. He owns us.
