With the recent disaster that has surrounded golfer Tiger Woods, columnist Jim Pedley at SportingNews.com has penned a piece about how Jimmy Johnson’s unassuming self isn’t such a bad thing for NASCAR. In a world where it is becoming more readily apparent that few people in the limelight are actually as they seem, Johnson stands as one of the few guys who has not really mistepped in the public eye. 

There is an arguement that the Woods controversey will be a boon to golf ratings and there will be increased interest in the tour next season, especially at events where Woods is competing. We kind of agree with that, but we’d add that few of the people who tune in to see Woods handle the pressure of the tour and the smoking ruins of his marriage will probably run out of interest once he manages to win his next tournament.

Best we can tell Jimmie Johnson is a regular guy. A wealthy, race car driving, regular guy, but certainly a dude who we’d like to grab a beer with. Woods is now a confirmed liar and cheat.
