Carl Tasca, wheeling 2010 Cobra Jet #27, made the first run in the eight-second zone for the limited edition factory drag cars today at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. As best we know this is the first 2010 Cobra Jet to touch the 8s. Tasca rowed his own gears on the pass, making the feat all the more bad ass.
The car is tuned by Ralph Porier, a man who has been involved with Tasca Ford long enough to have been part of the original group of mechanics that created the Thunderbolt, the KR8 Mustang (precursor to the original 1968 Cobra Jets), and the series of “Mystery” A/FX and later Funny Cars that carried the dealerships livery.
We said it when we first heard of these cars hitting the streets that deep eights were on the way in a hurry. Considering that the Tasca guys have only been to the strip with the car a couple times, this number is all the more impressive.
With ‘ol Ralph turning the screws and analyzing the data from the RackPak, the Tasca Cobra Jet promises to continue to be one of the quickest and fastest in the country.
8.97 at 153 mph…straight from the factory. Holy Hell.
