BangShift Daily Tune Up: Call Me The Breeze – Lynrd Skynrd (1974)

It’s a Skynrd kind of day in BangShift land today. We dug up this freaking awesome live concert footage of the band playing one of the great driving tunes of all time “Call Me The Breeze” at what looks to be a huge music festival in England. The footage was taken in 1976 when the band was one of the most popular in America. Call Me The Breeze may not have lots of references to cars or technical stuff in it, but the sound, lyrics, and driving beat could make even the most staid gearhead flat foot the gas pedal on a lonely road. It is just one of those awesome tunes that fits perfectly with bombing down the road. This live version of the song rules even harder because it features some solo action from each of the talented rippers that contributed to Skynrd’s famed “triple attack” lead guitar sound.

Pardon us as we’re going to go do some burnouts after listening to this great driving song!

My 73 ‘Cuda had a tape deck mounted under the dasboard when I bought it in 1995.The only time I ever remember listening to it was this song.I always think of that sunny day and screaming 340 on the country roads!
