BangShift Daily Tune Up: Fast Car – Hanoi Rocks (1986)

We’ve got a bunch of readers that have suggested Hanoi Rocks tunes to us for use in the BS Daily Tune up, so today we’re finally going to highlight one. The tune is called Fast Car and it was on the 1986 album Lean On Me. Not being totally versed in Hanoi Rocks history, we’re pretty sure that this album was one of the last put out by the band. This particular song is a great tune that has killer guitar riffs in it and some good time, go fast lyrics. Whenever girls and fast cars are part of the equation along with a wailing electric guitar, you can pretty much count us in as being a fan.

BangShifter Anthony Castillo took exception to our highlighting of the Motley Crue song “Kick Start My Heart” a while back. Castillo brought up the fact that Vince Neil killed Hanoi Rocks band member Razzle in a 1984 drunk driving wreck and that the band was on the cusp of really gaining traction in the US when that happened. In fact, the band was on their first US tour in 1984 when the fatal wreck occurred. The band was already very popular in Europe and Asia so it seemed just a matter of time before they’d ignite in America as well. Knowing a little history on the band, it seemed that Razzle’s death so shook the foundation of the group that they split up in late 1985.

Now that we’ve brought the room down with that sad tale, let’s get the day started right with this rocking tune, Fast Car from the Hanoi Rocks album Lean on me –

    Brian,

I’m touched, thanks for the Hanoi posting. Hanoi Rocks may be a thing of the past, but front man Mike Monroe is still out there kicking major league ass with his new band, which includes former Hanoi bassist Sammy Yaffa. Again, it was a gas to get to chat with you at the March Meet. Rock on!!!
