Here’s a good listen from the late 1970s in the form of the Foreigner tune Rev On The Redline. We’d never heard this one before digging it up completely by accident on YouTube. The song is about drag racing and street racing with some good gearhead lingo thrown in. Hell, the fact that is has redline in the title hooked us. Foreigner was a huge band during their heyday and they’ve sold tens of millions of albums worldwide since forming up in the mid 1970s. If you listen to classic rock radio like us, chances are that you’ve heard a ton of Foreigner songs, but we’d never heard this one!

One of my favorite Foreigner songs.
I hated that album cover back in the day . . .
One of the only Foreigner songs I like . . . and they almost never play it on classic rock stations. Probably because it’s not popular among non-petrolheads.
The plot line of “Rev on the Redline” sort of plays out like one of the B-movie “Car-sploitation” movies of the late ’50s and early ’60s.
Great Song! They still play it on the radio around here on occasion. Lou Gramm speaks from experience, he’s a big gearhead, and used to street race in Buffalo back in the day. Tis a shame he’s been knocked back as hard as he has.
Love all the car/race songs!
