BangShift Daily Tune Up: “Slick Black Cadillac” Quiet Riot 1979

With hits like “Metal Health”, aka “Bang Your Head”, and “Cum On Feel The Noize”, Quiet Riot became on of the iconic metal bands of the ’80s. In fact, “Metal Health” became the first heavy metal song to top the Billboard 200, and did so by kicking “Synchronicity” by the Police off the top spot. On the Metal Health album was a remake of the Randy Rhoads written “Slick Black Cadillac” that had first appeard on Quiet Riot’s 1978  Japan only Quiet Riot II album. It was re released in 1983 as a tribute to Randy Rhoads who, after leaving the band in 1979 to join Ozzy Osbourne, died in March of 1982.

It’s car guy perfection with lines that probably shouldn’t be in print. Like “Ooo, just a big black set of wheels, Is what it takes to get me off”…
