BangShift Daily Tune Up: Steve McQueen – Sheryl Crow (2002)

Sure Sheryl Crow may have some interesting views on toilet paper usage and politics, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that she can jam. Her 2002 song Steve McQueen was an homage to one of the coolest gearheads in history and the video that goes with the song is pretty cool as well. Sure, they swapped in a black Camaro in place of the Charger in the “Bullit” portion of the video, but the Mustang gets jumped higher than it did in the original film, so that’s a push. You’ll see the car chase, a dirt bike chase, Dale Eanhardt Jr, cool road racing cars, and you’ll be bobbing your head to the tune. Oh, and Sheryl Crow is not that tough to look at, either! Just sayin’.

This song won Crow the “Best Female Rock Vocal Performance” at the 2002 Grammy awards and it peaked at number 88 on the Billboard Top 100 charts that same year. It is a cool tune that we think McQueen would have approved of!
