Consider this more of a true test drive, because this song is about as new as it gets. In the world of new music, most automotive references can be found in rap music as a hat tip to luxury brands or cars that are meant to be viewed as something to be jealous of thanks to the rich lifestyle that the music industry has allowed these artists to own. For the most part, it’s a matter of “who cares”…Benzes, trucks, who has the most luxurious whip? None of that crap is for us. But when I hear of a band named “Granny4Barrel”, I took immediate notice. Who in the hell would name their band that? I had heard the last fifteen seconds of the song and knew that I liked what heard well enough for a second round, but the band name alone didn’t sell me on it being worthy of being shared here.

Then I heard the song in full: “Nitro Sexy”. Is this legitimate? Lots of car-leaning lyrics that could be taken as double entendres, but again, I wanted to see what this band was all about…and oddly enough, I couldn’t find jack squat about the band on the Internet besides two other songs they’ve done. Well, the video has dropped and there’s hot rods, a desert dragstrip in El Paso, a weird steampunk-meets-greaser vibe, roller derby girls and a dude dressed up as Dee Snider’s grandmother, attitude, shotgun and all, riding on top of a chopped rod in a rocking chair. Lead guitar is actually on violin, and you almost get the feeling that Rob Zombie had something to do with all of this. “Mental” is about the only applicable phrase I can come up with, but I will say that it’s sick to see a rock band throw the car crowd a bone. The question to you, readers: what are your thoughts?
