BangShift Daily Tune Up: Expressway To Your Heart – The Soul Survivors (1967)

It’s been a while since I posted a BangShift Daily Tune Up but this song is too good not to share. This is one of the songs I can clearly remember jamming to in the back of my dad’s 1964 Pontiac GTO on Saturday nights heading either to or from Nick’s clam shack in Natick, Massachusetts a cruising hot spot we used to check out. There’s something about Motown music that just spins my crank. I can get lost in this stuff for hours and whether it is the soulful voices of the singers or the driving music behind them, happy Motown music is among my absolute favorite stuff to throw in in the car when I am driving somewhere.

This song uses a traffic jam as a play on words to talk about how our hero is trying to into his lady’s good graces. I’ll be listening to this sucker on loop for an hour or so now. This isn’t just stuck in my head, nope this one has actually applied for permanent residency. Enjoy!
