BangShift Daily Tune Up: I Gotsta Get Paid – ZZ Top (2012)

(Editor’s note: We highlighted this one last year, but it is stuck in my head so here it is again!) The guys in ZZ Top recently released a new tune called, “I Gotsta Get Paid” and with it came a music video. We are really digging the song which has the driving, rythmic, bluesy sound that some of the band’s biggest hits have had in their 40 years as an act. The music video is kick ass as well because it is filled with images of great hot rods driving on what looks to be the El Mirage dry lake bed in California. (If we’re wrong on that the corrections will be instant down below!).

Of course ZZ Top has a long history of mixing hot rods with their music. Billy Gibbons is a huge car guy and there’s not a hot rod loving dude alive that doesn’t know the famous full-fendered 1933 Ford Coupe Gibbons commissioned known as The Eliminator. The graphics were conceived by Kenny Youngblood, and the major influence for the car came from the famous ’34 Ford in the movie, The California Kid. These guys can still jam as evidenced by this tune and we think it is really neat that they were able to get this awesome group of hot rods to be the focal point of the music video!

Watch the video below and tell us what you think! Does this “little ol’ band from Texas” still have chops after 40 years of rocking hard?

NOTE: WE WOULDN’T CALL THIS NOT SAFE FOR WORK, BUT THERE ARE SOME WOMEN IN THE VIDEO WHO ARE NOT EXACTLY DRESSED LIKE NUNS DANCING IN WAYS THAT WOULD GET YOU THROWN OUT OF CATHOLIC SCHOOL. IF THIS WOULD BE OFFENSIVE TO YOU OR YOUR BOSS, WATCH IT AT HOME. NO ONE GETS NAKED AND NO ONE SWEARS. DON’T BLAME US!
