We ran across an interesting editorial at Just-Auto.com that looks at how racing is starting to adopt some “green” tendencies and how the increased demand and awareness of hybrids and other alternative power sources may lead to racing series that highlight those particular advances. It’s not lunatic fringe stuff like you’d expect, but a pretty even handed look around.
It’s a pretty good premise that the writer uses. By taking the “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” mantra and showing that “traditional” race cars have diverted so far away from their factory counterparts, it really leaves you wondering what the future is. Can the so-called “green cars” be raced in near factory condition and draw crowds, inspire sales, and improve the breed?
We don’t see ourselves buying a ticket to watch that.
