When I was a kid, I had a book that explained the world of cars. It showed trucks and buses, farm tractors and the like, but what I really remember from it was the depiction of a hot rod and a custom car. The hot rod was your typical ’32-ish Ford, complete with blower motor, big fat tires out back, and a nearly useless chopped top. The custom car was a hunkered down 1966-67 Buick Riviera, no question. There are cars that look similar to each other, but the front clip of a 1966-67 Riviera is unmistakable. The narrow nose, the hidden headlights, the grille and those corner markers…out of the bigger cars of the era, I find these two years of Riviera to be the sexiest. They can look mean when done right, they can look classy when left stock, and in the case of this particular Buick, can be drop-jaw gorgeous with the proper touch.
Hot Rods and Custom Stuff spent thousands of man-hours getting this Riviera to what you see here. Besides the typical restoration that made the car whole and complete, the top got a mild chop, the bumpers were tweaked to tuck into the body, the 430ci V8 was dressed up to appear day one new, but the first two things we bet you will notice will be the unbelievably stunning paint work and the custom, one-off wheels. This car begs for hyperbole…it’s perfect. It’s the right amount of chrome and candy. It’s an excellent blend of stock and custom, of old and new ideas. It’s achingly beautiful, and deserves accolades we are sure it will earn over time. Click play below to learn more about it:
This is the very best custom I have ever seen. Everything has been done to the highest standards and the only regret I have is that I can’t see it out of my window every day…….
uh….you do realise Buick is a GM brand , Geordie?
