DeMuro Vs. A 1977 Cadillac Eldorado – Age Before Beauty Or Yield To Tonnage?

DeMuro Vs. A 1977 Cadillac Eldorado – Age Before Beauty Or Yield To Tonnage?

I don’t know Doug DeMuro. Never met the guy. I’ve only seen his writings and his YouTube content. The only facts I know about him is that he’s just a few years younger than me, he’s from Colorado like I am, and he’s a Gemini…just like I am. (All of that comes from some random Internet site, so who the hell knows if any of that is really accurate?) In any case, DeMuro has the experience behind the wheel of a lot of vehicles to have a basis for judging what looks to be Boss Hogg’s personal Cadillac Eldorado. The 1977 Eldo is a 19-foot-long monster…put into perspective, this car is only a foot shorter than the Caddy Limo in my driveway, seats “six”, and is powered by one of the most over-choked V8s to come out of Detroit, the 425 V8, with it’s 180 horsepower and 320 ft/lbs of torque. At least the torque was decent enough, because the Eldo brought a bunch of weight to move around, with it’s deep carpeting, heavily padded seats and all. This was disco pimp done right, the ride of an oil baron or the town’s rich bastard. Or Roscoe’s “fat little buddy”.

I always enjoy someone my age or younger getting a full experience with a 1970s or earlier road barge. Not everything pre-1980 was a musclecar, and DeMuro will point out everything that is working over his mind about the U.S.S. Front-Drive that he was cut loose with. Wait until you hear what he compares a forty-year-old Cadillac to…that part is actually great!
