This MotorWeek Mustang vs. Trans Am vs. IROC-Z Shootout Might Be The Most Cringeworthy Review We’ve Ever Seen

Going through YouTube and watching old car reviews is pretty cool…both to see just how far we’ve come from what used to be top of the line, and to see cars we look at as classics (or at least used cars) and judge how they behaved when they were brand-new and the pinnacle of what was being sold. While watching old Car and Track clips will never get old, there is another show that covered some of the more modern pieces: MotorWeek. Since 1981 MotorWeek has featured vehicle tests, mostly pedestrian stuff like Caprices, Crown Victorias and the like, but every now and then they would get a wild hair and test out some of the newest performance cars coming out. In this case, this 1985 three-way test of a 1985 Ford Mustang GT, Pontiac Trans Am 5.0L, and Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z should be a neat piece. But trust me when I say it…this is comedy gold. Where’s Mike and The Bots when you need them?

Out of the three choices, I’d take the Fox Body.
The Camero is promising, but ruined by the slushbox, and the Pontiac’s low output is pretty dismal.
