Ride Onboard Ian Woodward’s 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am Racer As He Breaks Lakeside’s Lap Record

The Aussies and Kiwis are just as fanatical about V8 power as we are in the States, and groups such as the Australian Trans-Am and the New Zealand Historic Muscle Car keep the engines going and the racing tight. It’s not uncommon to see a Javelin AMX mixing it up with a Boss 302 while a mid-70s Camaro in Sunoco livery is power sliding around the corner behind them. It may be historic in nature, but racing is racing and these drivers do not hesitate to put their cars onto the knife’s edge to get the win. In this video, Ian “Woody” Woodward’s 1970 Pontiac Trans-Am racer is getting one hell of a workout at Lakeside Park in Pine Rivers, Australia last year. There is no mercy given as the big F-body is flung around the track. When the lowest RPM we see on the tach is about 3,500 RPM, you know he’s going for gold!

Why for the love of God don’t we have a series like this and rally racing in the states. I know we have the Camaro Mustang challenge. But we want 60s and 70s steel mixing it up this hard.
