Another Work Truck Win: This 1979 Chevrolet K30 3+3 Is GM Heaven

Ben Small, you are an absolutely evil man. Someone has been paying attention to our focus on work trucks this week, and especially to Chad’s weakness for all things General Motors, and his suggestion is a home run out of the park. Chad would be all over it, Brian would be all over it, and I can’t say that I would turn it down, either. This is good. Real good. Even by the standards of non-GM fans, this is good.

What you are looking at is a 1979 Chevrolet K30 3+3 pickup, with a 350 for motivation, an SM465 granny-low four on the floor, dual tanks, disc brakes, and for only the second time I can ever remember, a factory tachometer gauge cluster. If this was a $1,500 truck with all of that equipment, we’d be impressed. But look at this thing! The Chevy has been restored and the money put into the restoration went to the right parts, from the pictures we are seeing. Clean metal, clean chassis and suspension components, a meticulous engine bay and that tan interior, free from cracks, rips and stains, sells itself.

Point your ears to the West and listen carefully. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of the Bearded One losing it on this rig.

  1. Mouse

Came across one even better parked on the street in Banff Alberta Canada last week. Same 3+3 truck with a short box dropped on a 90’s Dodge Cummins chassis .

Very odd it’s a No A/C truck. Someone went to a detail shop and had that thing scrubbed down inside. That’s why the plastic insert in the horn pad is cracked. If they are flexible still those can be changed.

before I bid that much on something like that I would want to see it in person. Look for the sins.

As for the Factory tachs maybe 1 out of 1000 trucks had it. it was a option that had to be ordered. You can pick up tach clusters on ebay. some people take medium duty clusters to make light duty tach clusters. Some of the medium duty clusters have a Air pressure gauge in them (gee whiz no need for that right?).
