Raise your hand if a 800hp, blown Chevy station wagon doesn’t sound like fun to you. Keep your hand up…now, find the door and make a hasty exit, because if you can’t find even one reason why this 1970 Chevy would be a riot to drive, then you’re at the wrong site. It’s rough enough to be used everyday, it’s pretty enough to show, and everything under hood is violent enough to have a good ol’ time with.
Here’s the breakdown from the listing:
1970 wagon with a blown roller 509″ BBC, B&M blower, 1150 dominator, pro thunder heads, MSD 6 btm 818HP in current tune at 5800 rpm 790 ft lbs torque. TH400 reverse manual valve body, straight cut planets, Red Eagle clutches, Billet clutch hub, input shaft and drum, 10″ 3500 stall converter. Lots of trick parts. 12 bolt Moser spool, Moser C-Clip eliminators 5/8 studs Moser 33 spline axles Moser 4:11 gears. Boxed upper and lower control arms, poly urethane bushings, 1350 u-joints, Electric cut outs with 3″ exhaust. New drag radials on the back and moroso front runners on the front. I have the complete build sheet for the motor as well as dyno sheets for it. The car also has a 200 hp nitrous set up on the car that has not been used with this motor. Everything is fresh with no more than 500 miles on the whole package.New brakes and lines all around the car in the past 1000 miles along with rebuilt front suspension. NO RUST in the floor boards. The boxed arms have urethane mounts. Motor and transmission are mounted solid. I also have air shocks on the back. Separate fuel pump when the nitrous is on and the car has a Hitachi high torque Starter B&M 177 blower with two sets of pulleys to change boost. Adjustable timing retard in the car for The MSD box. 1/2″ fuel line front to back for motor and separate 1/2″ line for the nitrous,Headers are thick flange big tube ceramic coated with 3 1/2″ collectors. Rear drag radials are 295/65/15. It would cost you close to 25k just to duplicate this motor not to mention the transmission and rearend. This car was built as a fast street car and as such it is street legal and gets lots and lots of attention. The car ran 11.45 at 118mph with the stock rearend, a 2600 stall converter and a set of street tires leaving easy and shifting at 5000 rpm the first time to the track. I was promptly asked to leave the track because of not having a roll bar. My best guess is that the car will run in the 10.70 range in its current set up with the drag radials on without using the nitrous. 818hp in 4000lbs on the quarter mile calculator says 10.40s.
It’s sitting on eBay right now, at just over $6,000 at writing time. Planning on kicking off the new year with a new ride? This would be a hell of a start, right here. Clean up the interior a bit, set the kids in the third row so they could flip off the loser, and hammer down!
looks like a ride for the baddest soccer mom on the planet,
I know a guy that has the same car with no blower and is that nice and faster. Thats a cool car though.
My wife has a daily driver ’70 Impala 2 door coupe. It has the factory 454 (390 hp), AC and it’s original lemon wood yellow paint. We’ve owned it since ’76. I went through the motor in ’89 and added a few upgrades like a Holley 850, alum intake & Comp 268 cam. The original 350 turbo got smoked long ago. I replaced it with a 400, with 2500 stall reworked valve body. With the 3:31 posi, I just installed, it surprises a lot of late model, ‘go-fast type cars!!
surprises?….
you mean beats the crap out of….
I would lose the dirt track looking air-cleaner – kinda defeats the purpose of the cowl induction hood
Although I’m not a Chevy guy by any means, yet I respect all forms of American muscle, I do like this wagon.
nice car but….
I wish he would have spent the money on the body & interior that he put into the engine …
“200 hp nitrous set up on the car that has not been used with this motor”
Funny how everyone who installs it never runs it (although may be some truth due to only 500 miles on the motor)
Big block ’70 Impalas. I like those. I would only lose that 14″ air cleaner sticking out of the cowl scoop for a bird catcher or BDS type scoop.
I’m not a Chevy guy but I’ll bet this one would give me a run for my money. Those are the kind of cars I like. Ones that will give me a race.
