Meet The $70,000 Square-Body: This Restored 1987 GMC Sierra K3500

Meet The $70,000 Square-Body: This Restored 1987 GMC Sierra K3500

The 1973-87 GM pickup line is one of the few vehicle choices that Brian, Chad and I share a common and equalled interest in. They are that good. They are versatile, you can do just about anything your heart desires with one, and yes, because they are a GM product, modifying one is stupid-easy. And they look killer, from the early models with the deep grilles to the 1988-91 R/V series with the grilles meant to mimic the new-for-1988 GMT400 truck line. Big-block tow pig, slammed hot rod, lifted mudder…in Brian’s case, a wrecker with a Century tow setup on the back…there’s a Rounded-Line pickup for any and every occasion.

At first glance, this 1987 GMC Sierra one-ton is immediate lust at first sight. Deep black paint, good chrome, restored later-model-spec interior, 454 and overdrive…this isn’t just nice, this is niiiiice. But that paint isn’t original, that 454 and overdrive auto was added, and pretty comes with a price. Seventy grand, to be precise. A lot of restoration work has gone into making this Sierra one of the best we’ve seen in recent memory, but is it worth seventy large in the end?

I wouldn’t pay that, but if someone wants the best-of-the-best… there’s a butt for every seat.

No. Go buy 7 really nice drivers, or two restored ones for that much. Not even a rare truck

Restored? Sorry, restored means original engine and original trans and original suspension and original style wheels.

3/4 ton & 1 ton pick ups got cab lamps. you had to order them with out. 1/2 tons it was a option to have them added.

3/4 tons do not come with cab lamps standard. lve had 2 an “85” and an “86”. Still have the 86 bought it brand new.

You don’t take a rust free Arizona sheet metal and sand blast it. Mental Midgets do that, not car restorers. That truck is likely full of Bondo and LMC china parts.
Plus it has wrong parts. if it has a dana 60 rear then it’s from one of a small number of 75-78 trucks or it’s a 72 down.

That truck has Dual Rear Wheel lamps on the tail gate. ONLY came on daulies. .

I would not pay more then $8,000 U.S. for that thing. That’s only after letting the state highway patrol check the numbers and crawl over every inch.

No! Its nice but you you can still buy every piece of that truck out of a magazine. Of course the new truck and used car market have people expecting way more for what they’re selling. It’s old and nice drive it until it drops. That goes for anyone that pays the price for the new trucks and the over priced market.
