Quad-Turbo, 6.0L Powered Rubber-Nosed Camaro Junkyard Build…Recycling Done Right!

Quad-Turbo, 6.0L Powered Rubber-Nosed Camaro Junkyard Build…Recycling Done Right!

Yes, folks, it’s another late-second-gen Camaro sporting an LSx swap. I’d say “don’t groan yet”, but I’m sure I was beaten to the punch. Apparently the trend is to find the most clapped-out rubber nose Camaro, shove in a late-model GM engine, add boost, and go play. It’s a simple enough formula, right? Even the Hot Rod Garage guys are in on the action with their “Bonemaro” Camaro, another beater bucket with some serious suds in the engine bay. So how do you get power and attention? How about four turbos? That’s right…there are four snails breathing on this 6.0L mill! Now, don’t get too excited: these are the take-off Borg Warner KO3 units that can be found on Ford’s EcoBoost mills, VW products, Fiats and other small applications. Each turbo is 48mm, so they are making boost, but they aren’t making the stupid-fun numbers that a 76mm unit would…at least, not individually. Honestly, my turbo knowledge ends right about here, so if you know what could be going on with this setup (compounding boost, maybe?) feel free to chime in below:

My turbo experience is with Cummins 6BTs and 2.2 Chryslers, but it looks like they are plumbed equally. I think he would get more boost over a wider RPM, and more tuneability with a compound set up running dual 48s into dual 72-75 range turbos. Assuming the bottom end could take it.
