eBay Find: A 1968 GMC Pickup That Checks Every Last Box…Except For The Wheels, You Pick Your Favorites!

eBay Find: A 1968 GMC Pickup That Checks Every Last Box…Except For The Wheels, You Pick Your Favorites!

You can’t exactly blame Freiburger for coining the term “Muscle Truck”. The concept has been around for years, mainly because when you combined the larger engines trucks were available with to some of the more interesting options that were available, like deeper rear gears, stouter components, and in some cases lighter weights than some of the bigger cars on the block, you wound up with one stout machine that could flat rock the joint. It’s how Mopar managed to keep any kind of performance torch lit through the dark days of the late 1970s…their cars might have missed setting the world on fire, but when the Corvette gets kicked out of the fastest domestic car spot by a stepside Dodge, that’s noticeable.

But, if I have to be honest, I always picture 1967-1987 GM products as the best muscle truck fodder out there. Whether you like the Action Line or the Rounded Line shape, either way you can’t lose. Every side can talk their crap, but these were good units and there’s a reason why people still love them to this day. This 1967 GMC caught my eye as I was surfing eBay…I wasn’t looking for a street truck at all, but as soon as I saw the pic of it with the classic trailer, I was sold hook, line and sinker. The truck is old-school cool: 327, four-speed, five-lug swap, solid sheetmetal, and a Rhino Liner-sprayed bed. Oh, and you can pick your own wheels if you win the auction. Red rallys, black rallys, or Moons…which would you take? I’d take the black wheels personally. Chad would probably take the classic camp trailer instead.

    Nice truck..
but bringing up the mopar b/s was pointless. .
Only reason it was faster was of unbalanced rules.. ODD your mopars could not do it within the same regs and rules..
    That is telling..
Was this blog about this truck or just a reason to show your mopar love.

I like it either way. Would prefer a Dodge with a 340 4-speed though. Guarantee it would spank baby blue all day long.

Sheesh this is tempting even with the exchange rates right now. These things are going for stupid money here in BC…….aarghh………..
