This Old-School Custom 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Would Make A Great Project Start – Check This Out!

There are still unrestored C1 Corvettes out there? I don’t just mean concours-level perfect cars, either…I mean first-generation Vettes that are finished, usually trailered or are pure sunny-weather-only cars. Is anyone street-driving a C1 Vette without concern anymore? It might just be us, but we have a feeling that the answer is no, that isn’t the case anymore, and we find that kind of sad. But there is hope, and we see it in this 1961 that is sitting on eBay under “project cars”. Make no mistake, it’s a project: whatever engine and transmission used to occupy the engine bay have long since been raided for something else, the body, complete with custom touches and mild custom paint, needs some TLC, and there’s some section of frame that could use some new metal stock to repair what the tin worm ate. All we’d do is patch up the body and frame, stab in the first big-block we could locate, attach a manual trans to it and drive the freaking wheels off of this bad boy. Maybe we’d take it to one of those fancy all-Corvette shows they hold at the National Corvette Museum and repave some of the parking lot…

He put $2000 of tires and wheels on it in an attempt to sell it for $5000 more than it/’s worth. I especially like the c-clamps holding the “Cal-Tracs” brackets to the front spring perches.

prime candidate for after market everything, keep body, take out the trash, need to pay appropriate price

Hate ta tell you guys, but I\’d pay the fourteen-K where it\’s at and do very nicely later when I was done with it, if it came time to sell. That\’s the money part. For driving, those kinda suck…it\’s amazing how awful some of those old so-called \”sports\” cars were, and that includes your Jag E-Types, Geo. Life\’s short…buy what you want, don\’t buy what you really don\’t. I\’d think about that \’Vette but not now.

Art Morrison developed a chassis for the C1 Corvettes… there are lots of them out being used in rage.

I’d figure out how to throw in a Toyota V8, a Ford transmission and a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear axle. Just to annoy Chevy people….
