In the era of $70,000 pickup trucks that make the excesses of the 1970s land barges seem tame by comparison, we often find ourselves looking at Australian utes for the answer to a question we wished somebody would have asked before the Super Duty replaced the LTD Brougham: do you really need a gigantic pickup truck to be a luxury cruiser? We can’t answer that question for everybody, but not many people actually use a pickup truck to the capability that they are designed for, and that’s wasteful. Finding this particular Lincoln Town Car-based flatbed utility, on the other hand, seems to be better suited to common everyday tasks that most truck owners would actually find themselves facing. Forget that hulking Navigator, never mind the “might as well be a Ford” Mark LT, and whatever you do, stay away from that Blackwood. This is the kind of Lincoln pickup that you need: all the plush comforts of a Lincoln Town Car, and all the durability of a full-frame vehicle that has proven to tolerate insane amounts of abuse.
