Y’know, something has been missing here on BangShift for the last few months: Ice racing. Yes, we’ve covered tons of snow-based sports, including Red Bull Frozen Rush this year. Yes, Lohnes has had enough snow this year to last a lifetime. But ice racing has been fairly quiet this year. No “Ice Monster” Camaro footage makes us a bit sad. But this quick video from Ford Performance helps a little bit. It’s really nothing more than Vaughn Gitten, Jr. giving his new 2015 RTR Mustang race car a workout, but instead of his usual tricks of sideways with rubber melting away on asphalt, he finds himself on a frozen lake and on studded tires. No matter, sideways is sideways and hearing the engine scream not only makes us happy, but our ears detect a new exhaust note. Did he get one of the new 5.2L flat-plane crank V8s for his new race car? We’d like to think so…that could up a small possibility of a crate motor version!
Got to meet Vaughn Gittin Jr. last year at FD New Jersey. He’s a real nice guy in person and jus as crazy as he acts. The new car looks okay, but I still think his 2010 car was the best-looking in the Falken scallops in Monster Energy green, grey, black and white
